Beats Online Along With Promotion and Distribution for Rappers

By Kyle Artzt

There have been some dramatic changes in the music industry within the past couple of years with beats online. It's easy to argue that there are some completely new rules which have been established in the new age of digital recording, and it's important to know and understand them so you can take advantage of them. A hip hop artist should know everything they can about the current state of the music industry so they can attack the market in an effective way. There's some good news in the new industry for sure but there's also a little bit of bad. For instance it's a lot harder to get signed to a major label nowadays so if that was your main business plan you might need to rethink, this new business layout beats the old one.

With the invention of programs and software such as Pro Tools or Reason it's become possible to get some seriously good recordings made in the comfort of your own house. There's not a huge need to go to a professional studio anymore and so it's become much more likely that the whole process of recording, mixing and mastering will be done right from the house. Rap beats can be found online. In the digital age it's very possible to do everything yourself and so what's the use of a major label anyway? With all the recordings coming in it's easy to see why majors are signing less talent, they're simply being bombarded by demo CDs.

That's not a big deal at all though. The thing about major record labels is they're showing signs of weakness at this point anyway. The majority of major record labels are selling less records every new project they put out. The business plan they use isn't a very smart one, they waste mega dollars and only 10% of artists signed under them will even profit. The rest will be dropped from the label and the costs are made up by the few ultra famous artists who actually make it far. Back in the day they used to dominate the music scene with an iron fist but that's simply not happening now. Hip hop beats online and promotion digitally has changed the game.

The reason majors are not doing as well in the digital age is because they're having trouble adapting to the new environment which musicians find themselves in. The game of promotion has changed completely and majors still aren't realizing it. With the invention of the world wide web came a phenomenal outbreak of promotional tools which are free to use and available to everybody. Websites such as MySpace, YouTube and Facebook are easily some of the most influential pieces to the rap puzzle. Now an artist can promote themselves independently, for free, so what's the point of signing a deal?

Also, the independent industry is simply doing a lot better than it used to. Billboard estimated that 50% of all record and single sales made in 2009 were by independent record labels and artists. That's a HUGE number compared to what it was just a few years ago. It's because of companies that allow you to distribute your music on all the major retailers such as iTunes. The rise of such companies has helped the music scene tremendously, at least the independent scene. But if you want to sell your music you have to buy beats online and own the rights to the instrumentals you use. Visit the links in the paragraph below to pick up some affordable rap beats today.
