Dealing With A Broken TV At Christmas Time

By Jane Anderson

It is an irritable experience, if the TV breaks down at festival times like Christmas and you will have to miss viewing on all the good programs. The problem can be tackled in a number of ways; some of them are given below:

1. In case, you are capable of using the operating manual and the type of problem is simple like tuning, you can save on repair charges. Provided, of course, that you have not or misplaced the manual.

2. The visit of a TV technician, even for an assessment of what is wrong with the TV is a costly affair. If the cost of repairs is added, you may start thinking of other viable and less expensive propositions.

3. Just to get over the Christmas period, you may think of some ad hoc solutions. It may be getting back your old Television set into service or if it is not available, bringing out the set kept in your bedroom for all to watch.

4. You are lucky, if the repair has become necessary during the warrant period as the retailer will have to attend to it free of cost.

5. In case, you are using a rental TV, then also you are free of worries about expenses, as the leasing company will take care of all repairs including manufacturing defects.

6. In case, the set is quite old and you feel that spending a big amount on repairing it, is not justified, the option is to purchase a new TV. But, the ideal time to purchase a new TV is January.

7. In case, you are keen saving on repairs in future, a good option is to go for rentals. The best available TV will be yours for viewing, something you can never think of, as it may be beyond your purchasing power. It is a worthwhile consideration.

8. If you decide on the rental option, look for it immediately, in time for X-mas.
