Some Of The Greatest Acting Performances From The Passionate Thespian, Daniel Day Lewis

By Grant Marcus

I wish Daniel Day Lewis had more movies that he has starred in. Lewis is arguably the most talented actor working today, and his multiple Academy Award wins and nominations further back this claim. Since the start of his career, he has been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role four times, and has won twice. Quite the feat indeed.

This article will cite some of my favorite films starring the great Daniel Day Lewis.

One movie certainly worth mentioning is The Age Of Innocence. This is a romantic film that was released in 1993 and circulates around a story of betrayal, infidelity, lust and love.

The Last Of The Mohicans is one of my favorite war films, let alone movies starring Daniel Day Lewis, of all time. This movie depicts the French and Indian war in a way that no other movie has been able to recreate, and very few have even tried.

Another great Daniel Day Lewis film is Gangs Of New York, in which his role of Bill The Butcher nabbed him an Academy Award Nomination for Best Actor In a Supporting Role. This film was released in 2002 and was also nominated for best picture of the year.

In what is arguably the role of his career, Daniel Day Lewis stars as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood. The incredibly talented Paul Thomas Anderson directed this amazing film which plays like a biopic because of Lewis' ability to steal every scene he is in.

One other great Daniel Day Lewis film that I feel the need to mention is The Boxer. This movie may not have received the accolades that his other movies did, but it is an amazing film and role nonetheless.

As it stands, this is my list. I have no doubts however that any future Daniel Day Lewis films will be incredible as well.
