Are Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Headphones Worth the Money

By Elsie Dee

Bose have a high reputation in the field of audio and are the iconic brand and the market leaders for noise cancellation headphones. I tried a headset on for the first time 7 years ago and was amazed by the noise cancelling effext they produced.

But the crucial question is, are they value for money?

Bose noise cancelling headphones are more expensive than other quality headsets made by Sony or by Sennheiser for example.

Frankly there is no cut and dried answer. We are all individuals with our own likes and dislikes and the headphones are worth it to you if they satisfy your particular needs.

A very special feature of Bose is that they provide a boost to bass sounds. This is part of the design philosophy and you either like this approach or you don't.

In the world of hifi generally you don't boost the bass because you want to produce the original sound as faithfully as you can. If that's what you like listen to Sennheiser and Sony headphones too.

You can find good noise cancelling ability from several good brands so what other features do you want as well?

It's very important to get comfortable headphones.

Bose QuietComfort headphones have very soft padded comfortable earpads which fit around the ear which I like but some people dislike and find too big. Bose were the pioneers in noise cancellation and they chose the around the ear fit rather than the normal on the ear design common in hifi.

All active noise cancelling headphones need batteries so they will need replacing. Check how long the headphones you are reviewing last between battery changes.

Provided the cost does not put you off and you want the around the ear design the Bose QuietComforts may be best for you so check out a good review.
