If you love animals and are touched by the beautiful bond between people and animals, you'll love "A Celebration of Creation", the wonderful documentary that lets you experience the world's most spectacular Animal Blessing .

Saint Francis Day at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City is celebrated in a very big way. Thousands of people, many accompanied with pets and animals of every description arrive for the annual Animal Blessing. They not only come from the East coast, but from around the continent and beyond. On her 50th birthday a woman came all the way from Paris to celebrate! They line up for hours in order to get in. Some of the creatures they bring are in need of the animal blessing due to old age or poor health.

With the Cathedral filled with humans and their pets the mood is serene yet festive. One of the most stunning aspects of this celebration is the Procession of Animals where an array of animals enter through the massive bronze doors. Camels, eagles, cows, horses, llamas, tortoises, Madagascar hissing cockroaches and many more parade along the two football fields long aisle to the altar for their blessing.

There are many interesting behind the scenes stories of the people who participate in this wonderful event. "A Celebration of Creation" introduces you to a New York woman affectionally referred to as the Turtle Lady. Having encountered turtles at an early age on Long Island, she has devoted much of her life to protecting these shelled creatures. Her New York apartment is filled with turtles and tortoises that she is helping to restore to health.

Every year two children are selected from Green Chimneys to lead animals in the Procession of Animals. Green Chimneys is a special eduction school-farm for children with social and behavioral challenges that features animal-assisted therapy. "A Celebration of Creation" travelled here to witness the kids training the animals for their special day. Green Chimneys also takes dozens of farm animals to the pet blessing so that city kids can get a taste of the country.

Many injured raptors, owls, hawks, eagles and falcons have been rescued, nursed back to health and housed at Jonathan Wood's Raptor Project. Located in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, you will visit Jonathan as he displays some of the raptors and selects an eagle to be head of the Procession.

Then there is the talented pot bellied pig known as Cornelius. He lives in a nice house with his very own bedroom. His talents include playing basketball and playing the drums. And every year he attends the Animal Blessing.

Renown saxophonist Paul Winter composed the music for the Earth Mass which is the cornerstone of the Animal Blessing. This hauntingly gorgeous music is performed live by the Paul Winter Consort. A choir of one hundred voices and the sounds of wolves and whales accompany The Consort.

If you love animals you won't want to miss "A Celebration of Creation".
